A service company with many customers

Example: Brightline Facility Services. James Carter is the service manager, Luis Ortega an HVAC field technician. Two of its customers use kommuns: Harborview Hotels Group (HVAC at two hotels) and Northgate Precision Manufacturing (compressed air).

Customers in one place

Expert › Business Partners lists every customer that invited Brightline and the permission each gave. Click a customer to see:

  • Work Orders: the work from that customer
  • Inventories: the systems you maintain (e.g. Harborview's HVAC — Central Plant and HVAC — Chicago)
  • External Permissions: the permissions you passed on to your technicians

The daily flow

  1. Expert › Incoming Work Orders: the ongoing work from all customers, with a Customer column; sort it by priority or target date, or switch to the calendar view to plan the week.
  2. James forwards each job to the right technician with Forward.
  3. Luis sees his jobs on his Home page and fills in the forms; the timer records the work logs.
  4. The customer sees the progress, the comments and the result on their own screen at the same moment; there is no separate report to send.

Team and permissions

  • Technicians are Organization Employee in Brightline; when a work order is forwarded to them they can open it and work on it.
  • If they need to browse the customer's inventory, pass the incoming permission on with External Permissions — Brightline uses Selected Permission with its own Field Technician permission.
  • Tags like EPA 608 certified and Field team make your team's qualifications visible.
